CARES Suicide Prevention needs volunteers!
Volunteers are needed for the Welcome Center. Opportunity involves greeting walk-ins, answering phones and providing resources. Training is provided on site to any individual with a smiling face interested in helping to save a life. Assist 4 hrs/week at a new Health/Wellness Program at Hatton Rogers Residential Facility in No. Ft. Myers. Duties to include answering the phone, scheduling appointments, collection of patient fees, filing, copying, organizing patient files, ordering supplies and equipment, greeting patients. RELIEF volunteers needed by Senior Friendship Centers
The RELIEF program offers respite to family members and loved ones providing constant care for a frail, homebound elder. The respite provides companionship to a homebound elder, allowing caregivers the opportunity to take a much needed break. Respite is provided in a four hour block of time. Regular phone calls from a volunteer create an important lifeline for an older adult who is homebound and alone. The 20th Judicial Circuit Court, Administrative Office of the Courts, Mediation Division is looking for interested individuals to volunteer in their Mediation Programs. Mediation is a process of dispute resolution in which an impartial third person assists parties in negotiating a consensual and informed agreement. In mediation the decision-making authority rest with the parties themselves. CCMI needs volunteers for Faith in Action Program
Volunteer drivers are needed to transport clients. There is a 2-3 hour time schedule per commitment. Drivers are especially needed in North Fort Myers and Lehigh. Office volunteers are also needed M-F between 9am-2pm (3-5 hours per shift) to assist FIA coordinator in calling drivers, answering phones, and filling out applications.

Spanish-speaking Volunteers Needed!
The Dubin Alzheimer’s Resource Center is seeking volunteers to assist at the center’s office on a regularly scheduled day to take calls from Spanish-seeking caregivers. Duties/tasks include accepting phone calls and visits from Spanish-speaking caregivers, providing basic information about resources for caregivers, gathering information for the center’s social worker(s) in order to assess the caregiver’s needs, and translating in order for English-speaking social worker(s) to provide needed assistance to callers/visitors. Requirements include fluency in Spanish and English (speaking & writing), caring, patient, and compassionate person with an interest in helping older adults and family caregivers, availability on a regularly schedule day and time each week and pleasant phone etiquette and willingness to work with public.

The American Red Cross needs volunteers to be Disaster Kitchen Workers
This position is working in an industrial kitchen during disasters, preparing and serving meals to disaster clients and workers. Required training is available free from the Red Cross. The hours are flexible, but the volunteer needs to be available to volunteer during major disasters. Training is required and there are 20 positions available now for long-term.

The American Red Cross needs volunteers to be Disaster Training Associates
This position supports the disaster instructors in providing training to volunteers. Some duties may include managing the training database, data entry, scheduling classes, assisting instructors to prepare training materials, ordering supplies, assisting volunteers with class registrations, and coordinating training schedules with disaster leadership and nearby chapters. The volunteer should be comfortable using a computer and capable of working independently after being trained. Required training is available free from the Red Cross. The hours are flexible, but some hours will need to be during the weekday. The ability to communicate and to operate a computer is required.

The Amercian Red Cross is in need of a Disaster Mass Care Associate volunteers
This position requires someone with supervisory or managerial skills. The volunteer should be able to plan and develop programs for disaster feeding and sheltering. He or she must have good communication skills and be able to inspire and work with a team of volunteers. This position requires availability to work during disasters in Lee County. This position involves coordinating mass care feeding which includes industrial kitchens and mobile feeding vehicles, overseeing the sheltering of Lee County residents during a disaster and also overseeing bulk distribution of materials for disaster victims. Some training is required and is provided free by the Red Cross.

Help Feed the Hungry
Wake Up America has an immediate need for volunteers to pick up groceries from participating markets. The groceries are then dropped off at the Distribution Center on Central Ave in Fort Myers and this takes less than 2 hours any morning between Monday and Saturday. Help is also needed at the Distribution Center to sort groceries.

Become a Child Advocate!
The Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) Program is seeking additional volunteers. Guardians represent children who have been abused and/or neglected before the court, social service agencies and the community. They are the voice for the child during family crisis & court proceedings. Volunteers must complete a 30 hour training course, which includes court observation, and agree to a criminal background screening. If you are interested, training classes are scheduled every other month. Speakers are also available to speak with your group or association.

Mentors needed!
The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools is in need of mentors for their Take Stock in Children program. An adult is matched one on one with a low-income high school student who will be awarded a four year college scholarship. The mentor meets periodically with the student throughout the school year to offer encouragement, motivation and support. Time commitment is one half hour a week, two to four times per month. Meetings are held at the student's school during school hours.
